SkinPen™ Micro-Needling

What is SkinPen™?

SkinPen-LogoSkinPen™ is a micro-needling technique used on the skin to stimulate its natural ability to produce new collagen and elastin for healthier, younger-looking skin. It is a medical grade, minimally invasive skin rejuvenation procedure that helps minimize the signs of aging. The device causes controlled micro-channels that stimulate wound healing by releasing cytokines and growth factors that lead to remodeling of collagen and elastin.

Fight the Signs of Aging

What are the benefits of SkinPen™?

SkinPen™ is a minimally invasive treatment that can reverse years of sun damage, improve acne scars and stretch marks, and enhance the overall appearance of aging skin. It is extremely versatile and can be used on all parts of the body including face, neck, décolleté, arms, hands, legs, abdomen, and back.

What results are expected with SkinPen™?

SkinPen™ will cause an immediate healthy, pink or red glow to the treated area. As the treated area heals, the pink or red color of the skin fades to normal (usually in 2-4 days). Most patients notice healthier-looking skin within days. Flaking occurs within 7-10 days and the new skin revealed continues to progress with dermal collagen remodeling for up to 6 months.

Acne Scar Removal

What can I expect during treatments with SkinPen™?

SkinPen™ treatments usually take between 30-60 minutes. Your provider may provide a numbing medicine prior to the treatment or ice the target area. The treatment begins with applying a thin layer of serum to the target area and adjusting the depth of the needle to the individualized setting most suitable for your desired outcomes.

What aftercare is recommended following SkinPen™ treatment?

It is recommended that you cleanse your skin with a gentle cleanser without exfoliatives or microbeads for the first 3 days following treatment along with using a hydrating, replenishing serum or moisturizer. An anti-oxidant SPF 30 sunscreen of your choice to protect your skin is recommended for the first 4 days. Sun exposure between days 1-3 should be limited and you are discouraged from shaving, waxing, or having any laser treatments on the affected area for 7 days.

Wrinkle Reduction

Is SkinPen™ safe?

SkinPen™ has several safety features including an exhaust port that prevents suction and reduces the risk of broken capillaries; a sterile disposable needle cartridge to reduce the risk of infection; and Bio Sleeve technology to eliminate cross-contamination by preventing fluids from leaking beyond the micro-needle cartridge.

What are the possible side effects associated with SkinPen™?

Some redness, tightness, itchng, and burning in the treated areas is expected.

Am I a candidate for SkinPen™?

SkinPen can be safe on all types of skin for a wide range of problems.
